Charette Service d'Auto is founded in 1981 by Pierre Charette and offers tow services as well as motor vehicle repair. First located on Grande-Allée St. in St-Hubert, the company stands out from its competitors and must move into larger offices on J.A.-Bombardier, in the industrial district, in 1992 and decides to stop vehicle maintenance activities to concentrate on the tow services and in the transportation of heavy machinery. Fourteen (14) years later, the company moves again, on Payer Boulevard in the same industrial district but this time on a 42 402 m² lot and builds a 2 600 m² building at the fine point of the industry.

Now a certified impound lot by Quebec's Road Safety Code, the company now has 39 607 m² of external storage space and of 2 500 m² of indoor space, all located on an enclosed lot with controlled access. The company can store close to 500 vehicles of all sorts. In addition to its personnel on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, surveillance systems and guard dogs, insure the security of the grounds.

From the beginning, the company counts among its clients, different police services, namely those of the Sûreté Municipale de Longueuil, the Régie de Police de Roussillion, the Régie de Police Richelieu-St-Laurent as well as the Sûreté du Québec stations of Cartier-Champlain and Montérégie Est, the Urgence Secteur Ouest service, the St-Hubert military base and the RCMP. Charette was able to adapt itself to the needs of these particular customers and is now able to assist these police corps in their delicate interventions and build themselves an envious reputation in this field.

  • Great Distinction award 1995 received during a reception organized by the St-Hubert Businessmen association, in collaboration with the city of St-Hubert;
  • Thanks from the police service of the urban community of Montreal, for their quick and precise response to the needs expressed during the ice storm of 1998;
  • Thanks from the city of Greenfield Park and from its police service for its collaboration and exceptional support during the ice storm of 1998;
  • Thanks from hydro-Québec for its contribution during the 1998 ice storm;
  • Thanks from the city of Brossard for the company's implication in its community;
  • Recognition from the police service of the city of Brossard for its continuous collaboration at the time of incidents and accidents;
  • Remorquage Charette also received numerous recognition letters from corporate customers for the reliability, the availability, courtesy and for the sense of responsibilities of the staff.

Pierre Charette took part in the development of the formation offered by the Centre de formation en transport routier de Saint-Jérôme, along with the Professional tow truck association.

Remorquage Charette adopted a style of family management and was able to develop a strong spirit of collaboration and effectiveness. Charette counts on its steady and qualified personnel of 45 regular employees, to which are added a few part-time employees. Every new staff member is trained by an experienced employee who will teach every aspects of the trade: customer approach, towing and how to retrieve vehicles. The company also offers punctual formations in order to maintain a high level of professionalism. Furthermore, a team of mechanics is there to ensure the continuous maintenance of all the vehicles of the fleet.

Pierre Charrette is also very involved in the towing industry. As a real leader, he sits on the board of directors of the Quebec professional tow truck association. He regularly takes part in tables of dialogue to improve and to ensure the progress of the industry. He's also attends different events to note the evolution of the equipment and of the industry.
